
Serzone Side Effects
Serzone has been linked to liver damage and other side effects. At least eighteen cases of liver failure were reported to the (FDA). Physicians in Cincinnati, Ohio published a report on three cases of "Nefazodone-induced liver failure." The study included three woman aged 16 to 57 who sustained severe liver damage after taking serzone for 14 to 28 weeks before symptoms developed. Liver transplants were required in two of the woman; the third was initially scheduled for a transplant but later recovered. The study concluded that Serzone cause liver damage in unpredictable ways.
The youngest of the three patients was 15 years old when she started taking serzone and almost died before having a liver transplant. She has mounting medical concerns over rejection of her new liver and long-term medical care costs. Serzone was never demonstrated to be safe for use in children and adolescents. The company has yet to show the safety results in this age group to the FDA.
Liver Failure
Anyone with liver disease or a history of liver problems should not be prescribed Serzone as they are at greater risk for problems.
Symptoms of liver failure include:Jaundice - yellowing of the skin or the whites of the eyes, Dark urine, Nausea, Loss of appetite - for several days or longer, Stomach and abdominal pain
Other side-effects not related to liver damage can occur such as dry mouth, drowsiness, nausea, dizziness, constipation, weakness, lightheadedness , blurred vision , confusion and abnormal vision . The drug has been linked to hypomania, a violent mood swing. Symptoms include euphoria, racing thoughts, pressured speech, and excessive energy.
